Fishmonger jobs consist of a range of important tasks including speaking with customers to fully understand their needs and even advising the best way to cook and prepare their fish.

We would like to introduce Gareth who joined us in a Fishmonger role at Makro:

"There are a few reasons I like my Fishmonger job - it’s a busy role where I get to see my regular customers on a frequent basis and enjoy introducing and advising new customers to our range. Customer satisfaction is my first priority because it’s key to ensuring they return to Makro time after time.

My daily Fishmonger job starts with a catch up with the store management team to talk over figures and how well we’re performing. After that, the day varies enormously. I might be calling customers to make sure they know about special offers and to get a good understanding of their needs. I might be talking a new customer through the range or preparing an order to meet a customer’s exacting standards. I’ll even advise on how best to cook the fish and recommend that they visit other departments to buy produce to complement their fish. It’s always cold on the counter as we need to keep the quality of the fish as a priority at all times, though we have lovely padded coats to keep us warm!”
