Department Manager - Meat
Managing a meat department takes a little bit of juggling which is what I thrive on. You’ve got to be able to balance a lot of priorities, and of course the customer always comes first. And to get that right, you’ve got to make sure of things like quality and availability, knowing their business needs and making sure everyone in the team knows what’s going on.
My role is very much hands on, whether that’s preparing meat orders for current customers or getting to know new ones. I’ll introduce them to the range, make sure they know about any special offers and find out more about their business needs and plans. We can advise on how to best cook the meat too and point them towards the best accompaniments, whether that’s in terms of fruit and veg or wine.
As the offers change each week on our market movers, and special offers from the Makro Mail brochure start every second Wednesday, it’s really important that I speak to my customers and the team regularly. And did I mention that customer service is really important at Makro? Sorry! It’s just that that’s what we’re all about.
