Being a successful Butcher involves being able to understand the needs of our customers and identify solutions to meet their requirements.
We would like to introduce Judith, who is one of the Butchers at Makro and was our Employee of the Year in 2011:
"After searching for a Butcher role, I was delighted to come across the butcher vacancies at Makro. Since accepting a Butcher job with Makro, I soon came to realise that working in a meat department takes a little bit of juggling which is what I thrive on. You’ve got to be able to balance a lot of priorities in my Butcher job, and of course the customer always comes first. And to get that right, you’ve got to make sure of things like quality and availability, and make sure the best choice and price is available to our customers.
My job as a Butcher is very much hands on, whether that’s preparing meat orders for current customers or getting to know new ones. I’ll introduce them to the range, make sure they know about any special offers and find out more about their business needs and plans. We can advise on how to best cook the meat too and point them towards the best accompaniments, whether that’s in terms of fruit and veg or wine.
As the offers change, it’s really important in my Butcher role that I speak to my customers regularly. And did I mention that customer service is really important at Makro? Sorry! It’s just that that’s what we’re all about.”
