We're big on compliance
Equal Opportunities
As an organisation, Makro is committed to equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees, job applicants and members of the public. It is Makro policy that no person receives less, or more favourable treatment on whatever grounds, or is disadvantaged by conditions that cannot be justified by specific reference to a job or situation. It is important that we know if our procedures are in keeping with this policy. This information will remain strictly confidential and will in no way form part of the selection process.
The Company will not unlawfully discriminate on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, gender re-assignment, race, religion, belief or political belief, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, pregnancy, trade union membership, or part-time or fixed-term status.
DDA
We operate under the framework of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and acknowledge the following definition of disability contained in the Act:
"a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day to day activities”.
We also recognise that some people are disabled by social, attitudinal and physical barriers.
Asylum and Immigration
As part of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, Makro will comply to this act by verifying all employees are legally entitled to work in the UK. All candidates invited to interview will be asked to provide documentation to prove that you are allowed to work in the UK.
