Makro Recruitment Process

How to apply

Just search this site for the job you want and simply use our online application form or upload your CV.

Once you’ve applied

First we email you to confirm that we’ve received your application form. Then, if you make it to the next stage,
we email you to invite you to a phone interview or assessment. After that, we inform you of our decision,
again by email, as soon as we can, and take it from there. This usually means either a second interview or an end to the process.

The qualities we seek

Please click here for our list of competencies. We use competency-based questions to assess your ability to perform in the job you’ve applied for.

The Interview

There are two interview styles: telephone and face-to-face. In the telephone interview, which lasts 30 minutes to an hour, a Makro colleague (usually the recruiting manager) asks you a series of technical questions connected with the role. In the face-to-face interview, which takes place after you’ve passed the telephone interview, the recruiting manager and a colleague from HR use a competency-based framework to ask you more probing questions related to your work experience.

The Assessment Centre

A session at our assessment centre usually lasts half a day and involves you in group and individual activities designed to assess your suitability for the role. You’ll be in the company of other candidates and a team of assessors. Expect a mixture of:

  • Interview
  • Group exercises
  • Case studies
  • Role plays
  • Presentations
  • Psychometric tests
  • Work-based assessments

Before you come to our assessment centre It’s a good idea to have visited and familiarised yourself with a store.

Psychometric tests

SHL provide our psychometric tests. You can practice their test papers at http://www.shldirect.com/practice_tests.html
