Sommelier Careers
Are you interested in wine careers?
Sommelier careers require a vast knowledge of wine. You must be able to fully understand the client's needs and identify the most suitable wines for their business.
We would like to introduce Diane, who currently persuades one of our wine careers:
I love the opportunity to bring my knowledge of wine to work and it’s even better when you’re making suggestions that can help to build people’s businesses. I love talking with customers about building their menus and looking at ways that I can make them even better.
Sommelier careers involve many daily tasks that might include working with the Field Sales Team who know a customer who needs some advice. I’ll arrange to talk through their plans with them and see what wines would suit their business best – it’s an ongoing process as menus will change with the seasons and there are always offers and promotions that I can recommend. Things that I need to stay on top of are order cycles, supplier lead times and promotional activity, which are all key to maximising availability while minimising shrinkage. And I need to keep an eye on sales trends so that I can make suggestions to the buying team. It’s great to be able to get involved at every part of the process and help decision-making – and it’s the best way to keep the promises that I make with my customers. Building strong working relationships with them is the best part of the job in Sommelier careers.
